Daniela Theinová
Senior Lecturer. Her research focuses on contemporary Irish and British poetry, Irish-language writing, and feminist and translation theory. She is currently working on a research project focusing on poetry and ecology. Recently, Theinová has contributed to Post-Ireland? Essays on Contemporary Irish Poetry (Wake Forest University Press, 2017), A History of Irish Women’s Poetry (forthcoming: Cambridge University Press, 2020) and Dánta: Poems from the Irish Language (forthcoming: Wake Forest University Press, 2021). Her articles have appeared in Litteraria Pragensia, Revue Souvislosti, Revolver Revue and A2. She has translated from both English and Irish into Czech, including novels by Colm Tóibín, Kate Atkinson, and Marilynne Robinson, short stories by Pádraic Ó Conaire, Rivka Galchen and Lorrie Moore, plays by J. M. Synge, and poetry by Vona Groarke, Caitríona O’Reilly, Alice Oswald, Máirtín Ó Direáin, Aifric Mac Aodha and Nuala Ní Dhomhnaill. Theinová’s translation of Deoraíocht by Pádraic Ó Conaire (2004) was historically the first translation of a novel from Irish into Czech. Her book Limits and Languages in Contemporary Irish Women’s Poetry was published by Palgrave Macmillan in 2020.
